Summer Holiday! (Part 1, The flight)

Holiday has started! The kittens are fast asleep. Furball mutters, “Fish… yummy food.” Meatball’s tail thumps around. “KITTENS!” All three jolt awake. “Get up or we will miss our flight!” Mummy cat’s voice shakes the kittens awake. T-ball says, “We better go now!”

They hurriedly dress, brush teeth and wash faces, running downstairs to eat breakfast. “Surprise!” Mummy Cat announces as she sets down a large pumpkin pie. A chorus of groans follow. “Eat fast, we have a taxi to catch to the airport.”

The taxi has arrived, the driver plonks the suitcases in the trunk and the five cats (and kittens) jump on. The drive was chaotic! The traffic stopped and started, so the kitten got thrown forwards and backwards, but finally they arrived…

They ran through the airport, flying through everything only stopping at the border control as Furball’s fur covered her face. The plane was about to leave! They ran and… made it on time.

    Returning Home

The kittens are back, exhausted and can only think of one thing, food. A faint scent of fish cakes can be smelt, making their tummies rumble. Eagerly, they run forward, slam open the door, and… BOOM! A bag of flour erupts in their faces.

    Earlier…

Daddy cat bursts through the door and runs upstairs quickly, forgetting to wipe his shoes. Mummy cat quickly drops the flour she is holding (leaving it in front of the doorway) to clean up the mess.

The kittens are now as white as a sheet of parchment. “We look like ghosts!” Tinyball exclaims. “I know, this is such a good—” Her statement is cut off as she tumbles into the bathtub followed by the others. The bathtub quickly became overflowed with bubbles covered in flour. After a while, the kittens were clean too, while the bath tub you couldn’t say the same. They jumped out, had a good shake, and went down to eat dinner.

  • Sports day!

    Sports day!

Light emerges from the classroom windows, as children excitedly chatter. “Today’s sports day!” Eagle exclaims.

“I know, it’s so exciting!” Tiger replies. Silence follows as Madam Gazelle enters the classroom, and starts to go through the timetable. “First is… dodgeball!” A cheer erupts. Madam Gazelle announces that the blue team contains: Furball, Tiger and Meatball, and the red team contains: Tinyball, Eagle and Giraffe.

Madam Gazelle blows her whistle, “Game starts now!” Everyone lunges for the ball, but Tinyball stays back focusing on dodging attacks. A ball flies past her, touching her thigh for a millisecond… “Out!” She quietly sits down.

Meanwhile, Meatball is having a bit of a problem. She is throwing balls with ease, yet as she bends down to pick one up… “Out!” Meatball groans.

Furball is avoiding balls easily, but her tail is happily wobbling… “Out!” The game ends in a draw.

“Next, is tug of war,” Madam Gazelle declared, “same teams. On the count of three, one, two, three, go!”

The blue team were winning, but suddenly they slipped and… “The red team are the winners!”

Finally, it was time for the running… The whistle blowed. Furball dashes off like a lightning bolt. Furball comes first, Meatball close second. Using one last push, stretching herself through the finish line, then watching Tinyball try her hardest.

Finally the day is over. Daddy cat comes to pick them up, taking them back home…

  • The Three Kittens

    The Three Kittens

This story is about three curious Kittens, who find themselves in a bit of trouble every week…

Deep in the forest, at the foot of a large green hill, there lives a small family of cats. Daddy cat’s a large chubby ginger cat, Mummy cat’s fur is mostly white with a few chesnut-brown stripes on her back, they live in a small, two story, mahogany (wooden) house with their three mischievous kittens: Meatball, Tinyball, and Furball.

It is 7:30am on a lovely summer morning. Rays of sunlight seep through miniature cracks in the worn blinds indicating it is morning. The sound of an alarm ringing shakes through the room. The three kittens are still fast asleep in bed. Furball rolls around in bed, mumbling in her dreams “mmmm so yummy, more please”. Her tail swings across the bed, thumping around until finally landing on Meatball’s nose. “Ah-choo!” Meatball sneezes, and sits up trying to open her sleepy eyes. Everything is peaceful until…“KITTENS! Get up or you will be late for school!” Mummy cat shouts from the kitchen, the kittens then hear Daddy cat’s heavy footsteps coming upstairs. “Quick! Get up before daddy comes to tickle our bellies!” says Meatball, shaking Tinyball and Furball awake. The three kittens spring out of the bed just in time before Daddy cat opens the door, “Get up kittens! Or I will tickle your fluffy little bellies!”

The kittens get dressed, rubbing their sleepy eyes with the back of their paws, and start making their way downstairs in a line. Mummy cat has already put their breakfast on the dining table. A repulsive smell fills the air, immediately forcing the kittens to fall back.Tinyball sniffs the air, “Oh no! Mummy’s made pumpkin soup for breakfast again!!! I saw her bring back a full pack of them from the super market last night, they must have been on discounts again,” she moaned. None of the kittens are particularly fond of pumpkin in this house, but that did not stop Mummy cat from picking up loads of them from the sale pile. The kittens sit down at the table, reluctantly pick up their spoons, and start to drink their not so delicious pumpkin soup.

After breakfast, the kittens put on their sun hats, pick up their school bags and walk out of the door. Daddy cat has already taken out the little family tricycle and is waiting for them outside of the door. The three kittens jump on to the back of the tricycle, bid goodbye to mummy, and start towards the school. Unfortunately for Daddy cat, the school is at the top of the hill, it is hard work for daddy to peddle up hill every morning with three chubby kittens loaded at the back, Mummy cat secretly thinks it’s a great idea as this saves the trip to the gym for Daddy cat.

Finally, after some pretty hard exercise peddling uphill by daddy cat, they finally arrive at the gate. Madam Gazille is greeting all the students at the school gate. The kittens jump off the tricycle, “Bye Daddy cat!” and they run into the classroom.

There, the kittens start another lovely normal day.
